Our team in Space and Defense Group is looking for a 2nd Shift Machinist to join them.
You will report to the Machine Shop Coach.
And will have an onsite work schedule in Blacksburg, VA.
To be considered for the Machinist opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
HS diploma or GED preferred.
Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all work instructions and training.
1 year completion in an approved vocational Machine Technology program, or equivalent
Proficiency in general mathematics
The ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
As a Machinist, you will:
Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling machine, and grinding operations
Operate and use CNC machines
Be responsible for the care, use, and application of various turning/plunge and form tools
Operate shear vise and tapping machines (manual and power)
Understand different styles and types of taps and dies (metric and standard)
Operate various types of power hand tools, grinders, drills, belt sanders, disc sanders, sand, and bead blasters
Operate and understand power band saw, cut off saw, proper selection of speeds, feeds, tooth size, blade welding, guide setting, and blade replacement
Complete required paperwork
Be able to work under minimal supervision
